Wesley Bramer, Westminster College
Wesley intends to maintain a good grade point average, join a fraternity, participate in various student organizations, perform community service, positively impact his campus, and make friends and connections that will last a lifetime. The scholarship has allowed Wesley to engage more fully in campus activities, rigorous study, and college athletics. Soccer has been an important part of Wesley's life, and has inspired him to pass on his knowledge of the sport through volunteer coaching, with dreams of establishing a non-profit soccer club.
Paige Eckert, Missouri University of Science and Technology
Paige is working toward a degree in chemical engineering, and hopes to use her education to develop projects that improve the world … providing water to underdeveloped areas, clean energy sources, or better alloys for efficient aeronautics. Her dream is to help save the planet by using her education to impact environmental issues.
Cassandra Mezines, University of Missouri
Cassandra developed a love for mathematics in middle school, and is eager to develop her talents to become an actuary. She is pursuing a double major in Mathematics with an emphasis of Actuarial Science and Finance, and Business. Cassandra sees the Affton Education Foundation scholarship as an important tool to help her achieve her goal of a successful career, a stable family, and a continued charitable presence in her community.
Riam Yousif, University of Missouri
Riam has dreamed of being an Optometrist since she was a child, attending a workshop at the UMSL School of Optometry when she was only thirteen. That dream seemed financially out of reach, as her single mother struggled to keep up with mounting medical bills. At Affton , Riam worked hard, taking AP and Honors classes with a 100% attendance record, hoping that her efforts would pay off. This scholarship enables Riam to pursue her studies in biology, serving as an inspiration for her younger siblings, and achieving her dream of becoming an Optometrist.
